Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty is an American dramedy television series that follows smart, sweet and hard working Betty Suarez as she navigates her way through the cut-throat high fashion magazine industry as the assistant to the Editor-in-Chief at the fictional Mode magazine. Betty, a quirky Mexican American from Queens, is bold, good-hearted, slightly naïve, severely lacking in fashion sense and not the traditional thin beauty as her colleagues in the industry. Betty faces the pressures of a demanding career in a fast-paced industry filled with beautiful people and the added stress of keeping her close-knit family together.

The series, based on the Colombian telenovela soap opera Yo Soy Betty, La Fea,  won two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Peabody Award and received 11 Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations.
