Dave Noll Named Chief Creative Officer At Ardaban

Creator of hit franchise “Chopped” and other top formats joins new Shine America label.

Veteran format creator and executive producer Dave Noll has been named Chief Creative Officer for new Shine America label Ardaban, it was announced today by Ardaban CEO Chachi Senior.

Noll, who is based in New York, is the creator and executive producer behind the global franchiseChopped,which includes the seriesChopped All-Stars, Chopped Championsand Food Network’s new hitChopped Grillmasters.  Noll’s other formats includeWinsanity, Momentum, No Kitchen Required, Rocco’s Dinner PartyandYou vs. 

In his new position, Noll will oversee all creative affairs and format development for Ardaban. Initially launched last spring, Ardaban’s output is exclusively produced in conjunction with Shine America and distributed globally via Shine International.

“Dave has been and always will be a student of television. His knowledge and expertise in the global formats arena are unparalleled by anyone I’ve ever worked with,” says Senior. “Simply put, his formats are BGL, (Big, Global, Landmark). I am ecstatic to have him onboard.”

Noll added, “I am thrilled to be a part of the Ardaban and Shine family. Our goal is to create for the global market and our projects must be universal, format-able and worldwide-able. They will be big, family entertainment— the type of show where we can make 30 versions of it around the world.”

Noll joins Ardaban from IAC’s TV production entity Notional, where he most recently served as the company’s president. While at Notional, Noll won the James Beard Award for Best Television Series for the Food Network hit Chopped. In 2009, the digital seriesBook Obsessed,which Nollcreated and executive produced for Barnes and Noble, received two Emmy Awards.

Noll’s original formats have been sold to a wide array of global network partners including: AMC, BBC America, Bravo, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, E!, Endemol, Food Network, Fremantle, Fuji, Hearst, HGTV, Lifetime, MTV, Nickelodeon, Oxygen, Sony, Sundance, TLC, Travel Channel, Vh1, Yahoo and Yoshimoto.

Prior to his work at Notional, Noll was a freelance producer and helped create City Lights Television and City Lights Digital. During his time with City Lights, Noll developed AMC’sFilmFakersandMovies 101,Comedy Central’sThe Chris Wylde Show,Lifetime/Buena Vista’sYour Mama Don’t Dance,TLC’sCover Shotand HGTV’s long-running hit seriesDon’t Sweat It.

Noll began his career at Viacom, where he quickly rose through the production ranks at VH1. While at VH1 he worked on such series asCeline Dion: Falling Into You Live, VH1 Archives, The Rock and Roll Picture ShowandThe RuPaul Show.

In 2007, Noll received his first New York Emmy Award in the category of Entertainment Program for his documentary on the life of Johnny Cash,Walking with Johnny. In 2006, he was awarded Best Reality Series for TLC’s Cover Shot.In 1998, a platinum album from the Recording Industry Association of America was awarded to Noll for his work on two music videos from the soundtrack to the motion pictureTitanic.

Noll currently resides in Maplewood, New Jersey, with his wife Jennifer and their three daughters Sarah, Sophia and Rebecca.
