Shine America Adds Veteran Marketing And Research Executive To Team

Shine America has named Rob Hughes Vice President, Marketing and Kevin Ivey, Executive Director, Research, it was announced today by Vivi Zigler, President, Shine 360˚ & Digital, Shine America.

Hughes, who was formerly Executive Director, Marketing & Communications for Saban Brands, will oversee all day-to-day marketing responsibilities for Shine America including working with all network and digital partners on Shine America series initiatives, developing international marketing materials for Shine America produced series, as well as marketing Shine America itself.

Ivey, who was formerly Vice President, Program Research for NBCUniversal cable network’s Syfy and Chiller, is charged with creating a new research department for Shine America and supplying strategic research data to the company's scripted, unscripted, digital, publicity, Shine Latino and Shine 360˚ teams.

Both Hughes and Ivey will work out of Shine America's Los Angeles office and report to Zigler.

"As we continue to expand our reach, the addition of both marketing and research departments to complement our scripted, unscripted and digital teams was a natural next step for us here at Shine America," said Zigler. "And Rob and Kevin are the ideal executives to lead us into these two new areas, bringing a wealth of experience in their respective fields.”

Ivey added, “Having spent the majority of my career on the network side, it’s energizing to now be on the production side and work with all of the talented people here on the Shine America team,” says Ivey.

Hughes, who had been with Saban Brands since October 2010, oversaw all consumer, trade, business-to-business, social, digital and cause-related marketing, promotions, branding, media relations and events for the Los Angeles-based company. Saban properties that Hughes worked on included “Power Rangers,” “Paul Frank,” “Vortexx” on The CW, “Digimon,” “Julius Jr.,” Zui.com and the mobile social games and app developer The Playforge.

Prior to his role with Saban Brands, Hughes served as marketing manager for Disney Channel in Burbank, Ca. There he managed off-channel marketing campaigns for many high-profile Disney Channel series including “Hannah Montana,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” and “Handy Manny.” He also was a member of the internal team that developed the successful Disney Junior brand and network.

Hughes also previously held a variety of roles with ABC Cable Networks Group. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware (BA in Communications) and resides in Los Angeles.

Before joining Shine America, Ivey had served as Vice President, Program Research for Syfy and Chiller in both New York and Los Angeles since April 2012. Ivey led the network's research teams in all program and multi-platform research analysis and tracking. He worked closely with both network’s scheduling, acquisitions, programming and development teams providing actionable ratings data and analysis.

Prior to joining Syfy and Chiller, Ivey had served as Vice President, Multi-platform research at Oprah Winfrey Network in Los Angeles. Ivey, who was with OWN from April 2010 to April 2012, oversaw all program, primary and multi-platform research, analysis and tracking for OWN and Oprah.com.

From May 2003 through April 2010, Ivey worked in a variety of roles for the ABC Television Network, including his final role as Executive Director, Multi-platform Research. 

Ivey holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Management from Howard University and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and four children.
