Emjag Digital and New Regency Partners with Shine America

Shine America today announced a deal with EMJAG Digital Productions and New Regency to create and distribute digital content.

Development and production under the agreement will be led by New Regency Executive Vice President and EMJAG Digital Principal and CEO Alexandra Milchan, along with EMJAG President Jamie Boscardin Martin.

Following a previous joint venture which concluded in 2011, Milchan and Martin will transition their digital content partnership to Shine America. New Regency will co-produce and co-finance select digital projects along with Shine America through a first-look deal.

Under the agreement, Shine America and New Regency will provide production financing opportunities rarely seen in the digital space, while utilizing their respective global distribution networks to maximize the reach and scale of new digital projects.

Milchan and Martin will tailor the distribution model for each individual digital project, working to bring the creative concepts to life across a variety of platforms, including webisodes and VOD, with the possibility of domestic and international television and theatrical release, as well.

“This partnership seeks to leverage the changing nature of how content is created and produced, by fashioning innovative financing and distribution models tailored to help each project realize its full potential,” said David Anderson, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital, Shine America. “Shine Group is always seeking to partner with great content creators, whether in scripted or unscripted television, the digital space and now supporting projects that might otherwise compete in the feature film world.”

“So often there are projects that are creatively excellent, but are unable to find a path to a traditional launch,” added Milchan. “We believe this partnership will allow us to identify the best established screenwriters, producers, directors and actors and to give a digital life to projects that currently do not have a home.”

Milchan and Martin’s most recent collaborative credit in the digital space, while in their previous partnership with Paramount was CIRCLE OF EIGHT. The project was a success in the space, setting the bar for scripted digital content.

In 2011, Milchan returned to New Regency as Executive Vice President of Production. She is currently overseeing a number of projects in various stages of development and production.

Martin and Milchan met while working on the set of “Heat,” and they have kept in close contact since. Years later they partnered in a digital venture that led to a deal with Paramount and them working as a team.
