Kate Shepherd Named As Vice President of Development

Kate Shepherd, Veteran Executive and showrunner to develop unscripted programming from across the globe.

Veteran TV Executive and showrunner Kate Shepherd has been named Vice President, Development, at Shine America, it was announced today by Eden Gaha, President, Shine America.

Shepherd, who most recently was the Executive Producer and Showrunner on the CW/BBC Worldwide Productions series “Breaking Pointe,” will oversee development of unscripted programming from within the global Shine Group and also work with third party producers. Shepherd will report to Chris Culvenor, Shine America’s Senior Vice President of Unscripted Development. 

“Kate’s extensive experience as a producer and also as a top development executive in the unscripted field, make her the ideal addition to our growing team,” says Culvenor. “She will be working closely with our international colleagues within Shine Group and third party producers to identify potential series to develop for the U.S. marketplace”

In addition to selling and showrunning “Breaking Pointe,” Shepherd also served as a consulting producer on BBCWW’s “Lovetown” for the Own Network.

From June 2008-September 2011, Shepherd was Senior Vice President of TV Development for Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment and XIX Entertainment in both London and Los Angeles. During that time, she developed the Spanish-language series “Q’Viva: The Chosen” starring Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez for both Univision and Fox. Shepherd also developed TV projects for Victoria and David Beckham and Michael Caine during that time. 

Before moving to Los Angeles, Shepherd worked for Endemol in London, serving in a variety of roles including Vice President of Development, where she helped create, sell and then co-executive produce “Coleen’s Real Women” for ITV. She was also co-executive producer on “Celebrity Big Brother’s Little Brother” and Zodiak’s “Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands” and “Wife Swap.”

She holds a BS (Honors) in Psychology from the University of Leicester (UK) and currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.
