Mike Aho Named Senior Vice President Of Factual Entertainment At Shine America

December 17, 2013 – Mike Aho has been named Senior Vice President, Factual Entertainment, at Shine America, it was announced today by Eden Gaha, President, Shine America. 

Aho will lead Shine America’s docu-series development and production efforts, identifying original stories for the U.S. market that can also be formatted globally. Aho, who was most recently Vice President of Factual Programming at Collins Ave., will report to Gaha.

During Aho’s tenure at Collins Ave, he created, developed and ran current on hundreds of hours of non-scripted programming for several networks, including the Dance Moms franchise for Lifetime, as well as American Stuffers for Animal Planet, Meet The Hutterites for Nat Geo and Drama Queen for E!

“Mike truly brings with him a wealth of production experience and we are thrilled to have him joining our team to help lead us into the burgeoning docu-series genre,” says Gaha.  

Aho added, “I couldn’t be more excited to be joining Shine America, which clearly has a lot of momentum and a tremendous team of unscripted development executives within its ranks.”

Prior to his role at Collins Ave., Aho served as Co-Executive Producer at Glassman Media from 2008-2010, where he co-produced and co-created High Society for The CW Network and was a producer on NBC’s Three Wishes and ABC’s The Ex-Wives Club. Aho also has credits as a producer on the Bravo hit Queer Eye for The Straight Guy and ABC’s The Bachelorette.
He spent more than a decade in Europe at the start of his career, working on a variety of series in both the UK and France, including Star News and Grandeur Nature for M6 in Paris.
Aho is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Film & Television from UCLA and currently resides in Los Angeles.
